Manufacturer: Lupin
Pharmaceutical name: Lisinopril
Pack: 15 pills (5 mg)
Lipril is prescribed for high blood pressure, heart failure, and diabetic kidney disease. Its effectiveness comes from its ability to relax blood vessels and prevent them from narrowing. This action is achieved by inhibiting the ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme), which helps to prevent the constriction of blood vessels.
When using Lipril, adhere to the instructions provided by your healthcare provider. Do not discontinue or change your dosage of Lipril without the guidance of your healthcare provider. It can be taken with or without food, but it should be taken at the same time each day, accompanied by a full glass of water. If you miss a dose and it’s nearing the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of Lipril. If you have any uncertainties, consult your healthcare provider for assistance.
The common side effects of Lipril may include dizziness, a dry cough, mild stomach discomfort or pain, headaches, tiredness, diarrhea, and lightheadedness. While these effects are typically short-lived, if they continue or cause concern, please reach out to your healthcare provider. Less common side effects can include numbness or tingling in the extremities, sores in the mouth or on the tongue, itchy skin rashes or other skin issues, infections, a sore throat, severe chills, increased bruising, and reduced urine output. If you experience any serious symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
If you experience an allergic reaction, seek urgent medical attention. Common signs of an allergic reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, tightness in the chest, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Lipril may not be appropriate for every patient. Always check with your healthcare provider before starting this medication, particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to conceive, taking other medications (whether prescribed or over-the-counter), using herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or underlying health conditions.
The appropriate dosage and prescription often vary by patient and the specific condition being treated. Do not modify your dosage without your healthcare provider's consent. This medication should only be used as prescribed and directed.
